cable problems were with the original dmask and you know that so were talking 5-7 year old radio's
seem that they were the ones who pioneered fip face radios
were probably the most popular radio's i have ever sold
customers loved them and still do
i have customers that have that have them serviced just like they have there brakes serviced
if the cable is installed properly i have seen 3-4 years of use before needing to be replaced

and how about how clarion solders the connector of the cd mech to the main board talk about making it had to service
cheap plastic in the cd mech

i have yet to see any of the new mechs have ribbon cable problems and they have been out for over 4-5 years now

as for the new kenwood multi conrtol wheel im sure that will be a new feature that other companys will be coping to just like that all did after the mask

I had two in this year one an 05 and one an 06 model, so no problem not solved and Im not saying they don't have innovative ideas but if you use the same technology year after year and there is issues....correct it!

seems all motorized radios have ribbon cables
you know of radio's that use something else
i've repaired every kind out there
its all part of buying something with moving parts

as in clarion build quality being better in a kenwood
clarion has never even done close to the business that kenwood does in car audio in north america
and thats probably what squewing your perception

I really wish you would stop posting in my thread. I asked which deck was better, you gave your input, which I do appreciate don't get me wrong..but then you decided to argue with smartass. I don't care about ribbons or any of that crap..I just want to know which one will sound better. From the specs I'm seeing..the Clarion is a better deck.

looks like clarions cables go too

http://www.carreview.com/cat/car-audio/cd-receivers/clarion/PRD_48296_2861crx.aspx
Weaknesses:
face down features allowed ribbon cable to malfuntion.

FLAT RIBBON CABLE FROM FACE TO MAIN PCB HAS BROKE

So, are you going with the Clarion?
I've got a dxz955mc, and absolutely love it.
Lots of features, and enough toys on it to keep me happy.
I've been more then happy with my Clarion.

I'm sure whatever one you choose, you'll be happy with it.
Enjoy your new HU.
cheers
