I have 2 issues. When I have my system cranked and my fader 80% to the front (out of 12, the front is 10), I can hear my 6x9's distorting at bass notes.

My front components are running off an amp and so are the subs. The rear 6x9's are running off the deck. All my stuff is in my sig. When I called Rockford, they told me it's because my deck is not capable of giving 75 rms watts to the 6x9's. My front and subs are perfectly matched - 70 wrms FNX components powered by a 250a2 (giving each channel 62.5 wrms) and 300 watt punch z subs pushed by another 250a2 (bridged to 250 wrms).

I can do one of two things, either I disconnect my 6x9's or put in my stock 6x9's. Will this solve the problem? I can sacrifice my rear fill because my subs are there anyways.

Another suggestion I have is to throw in a 4-channel amp (600a4 to match the 250a2 running the subs) but that is something I will not want to do. First off, it costs money and second, it will bring up my total wattage from 375 wrms to 550 wrms.

Above 500 watts rms I will have to replace my alternator and other power 'ish.

Let me know what you guys think...

 

Put a couple of caps inline with the 6x9's to cut the bass, or take them out. I have never been a big fan of rear-fill, but that is up to you.

 

What kind of cap? What if I put in my stock speakers again?

 

You should turn the gains up on the amps so they are putting out full power without having to crank the HU.... (ask for further instructions if they are already maxed)

Cutting the bass with a Xover dosen't sound like the issue to me... your 6x9's can more then likely handle the juice you are giving them... but your HU is distorting when it's cranked up....

returning the stock speakers may fix the problem, since they are probably 6-10ohms and won't tax the HU's outputs as much as an aftermarket 4ohm speaker....

If I were you and you were me, I'd scrap the HU's internal amp altogether and just by a used amp or something that will give them more power anyway....

Haunz, I cannot turn up the gains on the amp. It is capable of handling 4 volts and my deck puts out 4 volts. In this case, Rockford told me to turn the gains all the way down.

I do not want to add another amp since my amp rack is already full. Plus I do not wish to run another set of RCA's to the front where the deck is.

Dukk, I drive an accord. You might be right about the 6x9s being hit by the bass notes.

I will try the foam baffles first, and if that doesn't work, I will try the stock speakers. If that does not work, I'll disconnect the stocks and keep them in there so there's no air being forced out through the 6x9 holes.

I just disconnected them. Should I put my stocks back in or leave them empty? Also, what's a PR?

 

PR is a passive radiator, Its a drone speaker and it works on the same theory as the air in a port does.
