help please...

i had two earthquake d10s... sold one threw one in my car with a couple type r 12s wired at 2ohm. at first i was happy with it but then one day the subs cut out..
i looked at the amp and it was not in protect... it got worse and worse to the point that the subs would only work for about the first 5 minutes tops..

it wasnt always just straight cutting out either, there were times it would just slowly fade out to the point of not working.. and again, never went into protect. when they did work it wasnt nearly as loud as when i first hooked it up. out of no where it worked fine for about two weeks.. nice and loud too. (similar to when i first hooked it up) then i cranked it up and the deck and everything shut off... (happened only a couple times since i had the setup) when it came back on the subs werent very loud..

ive not got an alpine mrp m1000 in there and its as loud as the d10 was for sure.. so what could be wrong with the d10???

i now cant turn it up too loud at all either though because the whole system shuts off.. guessing im losing too much voltage... any easy solutions to this if that is the problem?

Check your connections at the battery and grounds. Make sure you have large enough eyelets on your wire to handle the current. Maybe a connection is getting corroded and causing the voltage to drop and get worse over time.

so to add to it, i just went out to my car with a voltage and at the batter and the amp it was dropping to 11,12, and 13 volts.. the lowest number i saw was at the amp and it was like 11.87 or something.. the whole system was shutting off.. with the car just idling and checking at the batter the voltage was in the upper 14s.. so that should be fine. after i turned the car off though the marker lights and dash lights turned on (light switch was off) they then turned off... then on again.. weird...

by the sounds of it you need to do the big 3 and add a second battery

I'm going to vote that the seat bolt ground is the problem. Seen that quite a few times.

Re-torque it.

Sounds like a power delivery issue for sure. Most amps are designed to limit output if they start to exceed normal operating temperatures and/or experience power delivery issues. It's obviously done this way to avoid damage. I would suspect an improper ground as well. Make sure it's on clean, bare metal, tight, and proper connections are being made to the amp.

so is it possible that it could have only been a grounding issue that was causing the d10 to either cut out or fade out to the point of not being heard at all?? like i said, not once did that amp ever good into protect.. green light all the way.
