Hi first off I'm new .. My name is Phil.. i own an 88 civic that which i'm selling and gettin my 94 civic Si in a couple of days. I live in Toronto and i stumbled upon this board that seemed to have a lot of useful info.

Im looking to slowly build up a system in my new car... but i'm not at all audio savvy..

Before that .. whats SPL and SQ???

I'm looking for something with loud and great quality sound .. doesn't necessarily have to be competition type equipment .. but i'd like to have it.

this is what i want .. and i hope u guys can correct me if i make any mistakes... and recommend brand names as well as model names/numbers :

2 15" Subs
and a powerful amp to power them .. i just want to start out with this and build on it ..

I don't want to spend too much on it .. obviously i'm going to look for Used stuff... so my budget is $ 500 ..

keep in mind i want something powerful.!!

- Thnx in advance..

SPL mean sound pressure level, usually a system geared more towards high output, than SQ, which means sound quality, a more balanced sound. The 94 you are getting is a coupe with a trunk, I assume? What kind of music do you listen to mainly? Personally I have always used dual 10" setups, and have always been happy, but I don't compete like alot of people on here do. Two 15's, if they are made by a decent company, will be hella loud. Let us know how loud you will be lsitening, and what kind of music you listen to, and we can go from there. Welcome to the board, by the way....

If you're just getting into this you really need to know the basics and the best way to do that is by doing a search.
Get an idea of what you're gonna need and search for some used stuff. If you're unsure of a product or don't know if it will work well in your setup ask some advice and everyone will be happy to help.
Then you won't be a newb.
