Here's my project, please give feedback

Hi guys. First of all, I'd like to say that I am new to CCA and Car Audio in general, although many of my friends have had powerful car audio systems for years and I've picked up a bit of knowledge along the way.

I did a lot of research and tested out some subs/decks/mids and tweet configurations at futureshop and heard some really great stuff. The best I heard were two Infinity component 6 1/2" speakers (powered only by CD deck, at 52W x 4 channels), with an Alpine type S twelve inch sub in a ported box (not sure what exact brand it was at futureshop). It pounded nicely and gave good balance between bass and music volume, but I'm looking for even more power in my car.

What I'm going for is powerful, hard hitting bass, with balanced music sound (I want to be able to hear the music and the highs, etc.)

Here's what I have. I haven't actually installed any of these parts yet, but this is what I've stockpiled so far:

1 Alpine Type-X SWX-1242D 12" Sub (1000W RMS) in an Audio Enhancers ported box tuned to 40 Hz (only box approved by Alpine for this speaker as far as I know)
1 Alpine PDX 1.1000 Mono Class D Amp
25 Feet of Monster 0 Gauge wire (to wire the amp/sub)
Sony CDXGT720 Head Unit (52w x 4 channels)
2 Infinity 6020cs 6 1/2" components front stage(90W RMS each), 2 Infinity 6x9" 693.9i(110W RMS each) for the rear of my car

A few questions for you guys that I can think of off the bat are:

1. Am I missing anything? I really am clueless when it comes to wiring and installation and whatnot. I am planning to go to Audio Heaven to complete the install, and I figure it will be much cheaper since I will be coming in with most of the gear myself.

2. Will I need any more wiring? My Infinity components came with crossovers and I was told that I shouldn't really need any additional wires to install them into my front stage, etc. I know my deck fits and is simple plug and play, I seem to have the plug in order and it fits right in. This is a recently purchased car, and the previous owner of the car took his entire system out so I have no wiring left over for speakers/subs and this all needs to be ran anew. I purchased Monster 0 Gauge wiring to wire the Sub/Amp, but I'm not sure about the speakers.

3. Should I purchase an additional amp to power my speakers, or just use my Sony deck at 52W x 4 Channels to power my four speakers? All of these speakers run at 2 Ohm imedence as far as I know (if that helps answer this question)

4. Are my Sub and Amplifier properly matched? As far as I know, it is. The amp should be able to power my sub (4 Ohm dual voice coil) without issue according to reviews from people with similar setups.

5. My trunk lid has already been dynamatted, so I hope this will stop any rattling. Do you guys advise using dynamat (or other sound deadening) for the rest of the trunk to stop the rattling? What about rattling of the license plate? I really REALLY hate the sound of rattling, and would like to also minimize any damage to my trunk.

6. Is it recommended that I run another car battery, or a capacitor - or both? I assume this is something the installers at Audio Heaven could probably properly advise me on and also provide me with if I need them. Are they going to be expensive? Do any of you guys require an extra car battery for your system, and if so, do you tuck it away in your trunk somewhere?

7. Any other suggestions or things to keep in mind to make my system the best it can be?

Sorry guys, I know this is a whopper of a thread but I'm really trying my best to get a crisp new system running!

Thanks!

You'll need the following:
(A few obvious things)
Remote Wire
Speaker Wire
Fuse Holder
Distribution Block perhaps.
Ring Terminals (Big 3)

I would recommend a second amp to get the full potential out of your speakers. That will really bring them to life.

Cap - NO.

I believe that amp will work fine for that sub.

Not interested in doing the install yourself? I quite enjoyed installing my own and had a greater feeling knowing I did it myself. There are plenty of people on these boards that would be willing to give you hand.

im a newbb too but keeep your type x if your set with alpine, or get a r. you should be fine with that amp on the x, could use more tho that would be alot of thump in a good box. if your on a budget id keeep what you have all seems to bee good stuff from what ive read, infinitys are decent speakers and just keep them to your deck for now, and if you have the money now or in a month say, get a 2 ch or 4 ch for your speaker, as for wireing and such you gotta measure all that yourself. of course like i said im stilll a newb so im sure a couple of the guys will come and correct me on alot of the things ive said im sure. but hope something i said helps

Friends don't let friends buy Sony. That is the weak link first and foremost, second the scratchy sounding Infinity speakers. Personal preference though but if you are going to do it once and do it right, you might as well have all the info to do it right. Would you be happy with what you have, perhaps, would the system come to life with different equipment, definitely. I would add a 4 channel amp in to power the front and rear speakers for sure or you will have a overwhelming bass machine with some scratchy top end at best. Your deck regardless of what it claims to produce for power at 52w x 4 is going to struggle to produce 18w rms x 4. There is a huge power imbalance between your 1000w rms mono sub amp and the main speakers.

we disagree

...the sony deck is just fine.

The weak link (in my opinion are the Infinities)
...if they are bought and paid for then use them (some people actually like their sound).

But I'd definitely agree that they would be better off amplified.

rest of it looks like a good start.

Come out to an Iasca show (or whatever) and check out some rides, most will be glad to let you have a listen, and most will even tell you what they're running. Just saying this as your listing of the "best you've heard" means you haven't heard much.

again, just my opinions and ramblings.

Well I disagree... I have had nothing but problems with sony decks and to date have sent two flying at car shows because of problems

I agree Rob, a different head unit will sound better in my opinion.
The combination Sony and Infinity will be a tad shrill. Try a Kenwood, Alpine, Eclipse, Pioneer.
Agreed with Rob, I would not drive the speakers with the head unit's power, I suggest a dedicated amplifier about 40-50W/ch.

If you are doing 1000 wrms for sub, do minimum 50wrms per chan, highs. That config you heard in the store will resonate alot more in your car

thanks for all the feedback guys. I've already got the infinity's purchased so it's too late to go back on those, but I figure having components in the front stage will be better than nothing. I'm gonna use the infinity's and see how it turns out.

As for installing myself, Nick (420guy) and I will probably work together on installing this stuff, he's offered to help out since I have never done this before. If everything goes smooth, I'll take some pics of the installation whenever we get around to it and post them if you guys are interested.
