Hi all, just buyin a stereo for my car, Im curious to know if I made out ok..

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...EBWN%3AIT&rd=1

After shipping + tax, it came out to 240$, kinda high for a used amp that isnt mint, but it matches up perfectly to my sub....

I got this for 70$ Cdn shipped to my door. The guy had a deadbeat buyer so I nabbed it for the lower price.

I got this for 200$ Cdn, locally from a guy who works at a stereo shop. Includes full warranty, and he has been a friend for many years, so I have no worries about ever having probs with it. It's in like new shape.

Total cost = 510$ after tax + all shipping.

Is that ok? The 2 channel amp will power my PG 6.5 components and I have a JVC mp3 deck.

Total system cost = 840 taxes in.

Just curious if you think I paid too much, or did ok, and any other advice that may be helpfull!

why ask after? You bought most from internet dealers, so you have no warranty etc. I saw that same amp on @ a+b sound for 200 can today. As for the other stuff, I still think you could have done better. That's just IMO though..

Could have done better. But if your happy with it, then it's worth it.

you did good - my first system was bought new from a chain store and I got royally ripped....within a few months I had replaced everything - effectively what I initially blew went down the drain. In your case you can unload that stuff for a small loss and still only be out $400 not like me who was out much more.

Ebay is good for getting gear...That's where I got mine...Mostly old school and hard to find gear. However looking at your purchases you could have done better just by checking out the classifieds here on CCA.

Just a quick example, a Sony 5 Channel XM amp is going for $375 which is slightly more than what you paid for the two amps you purchased. I think it would of been a better choice for a first system. One amp with a built-in crossover... easier to wire, easier to setup, etc.

this isnt my first system. I used to be into the scene many years ago (im 24).

I used to have an all PG system (XS subs, XS components, with RF amps powering off a Premier deck, I forget the model number, but it was roughly 500$. It was a goo dsystem.

Im just lookin to get back into things on a budget. I work for CP rail, but only as a conductor trainee, not much. I kinda got taken on the amp coz shipping + tax killed the good deal. As to the guy who said he saw it new at A&B, I doubt that, I checked around, they have a few models that are similar, but rated at lower power.

So yah, i wanted to match the Alpine amp to the Type r sub + enclosure. As for the other stuff, its all bargain, so no major deal. In the end of august im on regular pay so this is all gone in favor of a Alpine/Focal/JL setup that should fit nicely in a new SRT-4

I hope, you never know around here, layoffs a plenty!

SRT-4 - **** too bad you're so far away - I wouldn't mind a testride.

So how fast is it?
