Home Audio+Car Audio
#1
Ok probably wierd question but probably not the first time asked.
Can a car audio sub be used for home audio (yes obviously) BUT without an amplifier?
Say I wanted to use a 10" Alpine Type R for a subwoofer for a stereo/computer?
This can be done with speakers if I'm not mistaken? But can it be done with a subwoofer?
I'm trying to find a way to annoy my neighbors after finally being annoyed enough at their lack of respect for peace and quiet during sleeping hours. Hoping they'll get the hint.
IF this can't be done, how would I go about doing it if I had an amp to power the sub?

You could buy a plate amplifier for a home theatre sub then build a nice portex box for it. Problem is the impediance...I doubt an amp like that would very much like a 2 ohm load (your subs are dvc 4 subs I am guessing?)

The alpines are SVC 4ohm. I want to rattle their room as much as possible till they get the hint to stop blasting their music when im trying to sleep. I dont see why music should be played that loud unless for a party. Although its funny when I blast mine back at them they stop... lol
So one HUGE blast of music for 10minutes would be fun I thought about doin this with my deck as well if I got rid of my car..... But thats not gonna happen anytime soon.

I am using my Sub *Eclipse 88120.4" as my HT sub, in the future I will going to Solen to get a 250 watt plate amp for it, but for now I may find a cheap amp and charger. I think the plate amp for 250watt is 220$ or in that area, and it's rated at 360watts for 4 ohm. It's being ran off a 60 watt jvc amp and it's surprisingly loud , enough I got in **** from the neighbours 1 night.

So i could run one of the alpines off a cheap amp like that?
Also thought of makin my own surround sound setup with this idea, simply because a movie isnt a movie without some surround

When I did this I had my POS Audiobahn amp, and the battery charger put out like 10-15amps and powered it just fine. I was thinking the same with surround using couple amps to boost the power, especially if you can get a coupe amps cheap just not sure how that would work? You would def need a real ac/dc converter http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=104 so unless you have the amps already kickin around you might be into more $$$ then if you just bought a nice receiver. Now if you just did a 2 channel setup for your fronts if you had some bigger speakers you can't push then you could use something like this http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=138 and 2 channel amp and would be good to go. I had a set of tower speakers 12" subs running off that audiobahn amp that was hooked to my pc and sounded pretty nice alot better then when my receiver was pushing them, only thing makes sure u turn down your volume on the pc always or shut the amp off, 3am and the windows startup sound kicks in damn it can make ya jump lol
