Im really starting to get into it now. Im always on the prowl on ebay looking for good deals and vintage stuff.
Been looking at some power amps and some older Recivers/Amps to put together a little stereo for my room (selling my home theatre since I never watch movies anymore)
What are some good brands for older vintage stuff?
Ive been seeing some Yamaha amps from the 70's, NAD, Sansui etc, Also been checking out QSC, Carver, etc for power amps.
Tring to put together a wicked little setup for a budget

OLD QSC is good. NAD makes some kick butt pre-amps, The father in-law has a Sansui (circa 1975) and it is amazing. If you want a really goof beefy power amp, look for some Crowns, Brystons or McIntosh.
Oh, and don't forget Harman Kardon

The 70's were not a particularly good time for high-end home audio (tubes were passé and transistor based designs were somewhat harsh). The 'good deals' to me means inexpensive sooo look at fringe products that have been forgotten... Threshold, older Martin Logan, accustat, Hafler, B&W, Muse, Klipsch, EV, Altec, Tannoy, The Mod Squad, Perreaux, Meitner, Sequerra, Adcom, Infinity RS-1b, Apogee. Remember we are talking about vintage so some of these companies still make product, but it is pricey stuff.

I was in the local pawn shop to see if they had anything interesting and was surprised to see a Luxman Tube hybrid receiver in there. I'm gonna blow the model number but IIRC it was a 505u.
I used to sell them a decade or so ago and it was cool to see it

Hmmmmm.......Accustat........I have a set of those, you should see them, the dimesions on them are 4.5'tall x 2.5' wide x 4" deep. They sound amazing, but they have no bottom end. I supplemented them with Barringer 12" running off of QSC MX1500, it is fan cooled though, so I would like to get a set of Crown K2's to run everything eventually when I have an extra $4000 some day.
