I was attempting to help a friend out last night with her home setup. She bought a Sony 5 disc DVD changer, but her t.v. is an older Sony, only has the red, white, and yellow audio and video inputs on the back. No audio outputs. She wants to run the DVD player into the t.v., but also run it into her home amp and use it for cd's also. Any way I can do this? Would this little device help?: http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Pr...roduct=1501978

Run a set of y-splitters, so you could simply do a home theatre set up as well.

Ah, so just split the Audio outs from the DVD player, and run one set into the T.V. and the other into the receiver then?

There wouldn't be any signal loss would there?

just hook up the dvd player to the tv using the supplied red white and yellow cable, this will allow you to watch movies without the stereo. on the back of the dvd player there should be either a didgital coax or an optical cable hook either one of these up to your home stereo. this setup will allow you to have either stereo or regular tv sound for movies or cd's

Problem is that the amp is a Sony 2 channel, not even a Home Theatre amp, so it does not have any of the optical inputs, just regular RCA inputs....

Hey

Just run the yellow video wire to the TV. Red & white audio go to the receiver. The receiver has to be on to watch a DVD which, I'm sure it would sound better than the TV anyways.

The switch box you show won't help, it selects one of four inputs and sends it to one output.

Good Luck, J

Thanks for the info, unfortunately the speakers are in other parts of the house, not in the tv area. Old school setup, so she can listen to music in the kitchen and the other areas. I am going to try the Y-splitter, see how that goes, I think.

Use the Y splitter. You will have no signal loss.
