How to tell Ohms without removing sub from enclosure?
There's a dude selling a couple type Rs in an enclosure I'd like to go check out.
I'd be running them on an older MTX 300.2, rated at 300w x2 at 2 ohms.
So without removing them from this dude's enclosure, I need to be certain that the subs are in fact 2 ohms and not 4.
Anyone know if I can tell this without removal?

it depends on how the box is wired. you can measure the static impedance, but it won't tell you how he's wired them in the box. Type r's came in dual 2ohm and dual 4 ohm models (last 2 generations at least). All the possible impedances are 16, 4, or 1 ohm for two dual 4ohm subs, and 8,2,1/2 ohm for two dual 2 ohm subs. The problem is you have no idea what he's done inside the box, or if he's even hooked them up properly (seen that many times where a coil wasn't even hooked up). Unfortunately, there's no way to know for sure, except to take them out.
