OK! I am looking for information on how to tune my car stereo now that's it's installed. i was hoping for some overall general guidance. i have a HU that is capable of controlling all aspects of frequency going to the speakers and subs. how do i start? what methods will give me a good balance of highs and bass. do you tune these systems separately? for example, unplug fronts--tune subs, repeat for subs? are there standard ways of tuning out there. thanks ahead of time.

Can you give us a bit more info on your setup? What deck, front/rear speakers, sub(s), amp(s) are you running? Then we can go from there. Also, what car is this in?

Cool, I would probably leave the sub amp RCA's out, then set your volume to 3/4 and turn the gain up on the 304 until you hear distortion, while listening to a well-recorded c.d. that is recorded at a high level. When you hear distortion, back the gain off a bit. Also, turn the crossover (unless your fronts and rears are running full-range) down on the amp until the bass becomes too much for the speakers, then back it off a bit. After your fronts and rears are set up, I would repeat the gain-setting with the subs, and adjust the crossover so that the bass blends in with the rest of the speakers, but does not overpower them. There are many people on the board that can add to what I have told you, but this should give you a start, hopefully. Sounds like you have some sweet gear, should be great when it is all set up!
