not really cuz the 1200 watts is peak power, it all depends on how loud you turn up the deck...

1200 Watts is Peak only into 4 ohms. But if he has 2 L7s he will not have a four ohm load. That amp is 1 ohm stable and puts out 1200 WRMS into a 1 ohm load.
If the L7's are dual 4 ohm coils that would be fine. Each coil would get 300 WRMS and the amp is stable at 1 ohm.
If the L7's are dual 2 ohm coils you would need another kx1200.1 You probably could run it a 0.5 ohm you would risk a BBQ. Each coil would still only get 300 WRMS and the amp would be working too hard. But if you buy a second kx1200.1 each one powering one L7 (assuming 2 ohm coils) each coil would get 600 WRMS (still not enough to fry 'em).

Don't get two different amps. Every amp has different power ratings, response curves, power regulators etc

how would he "smoke" them? maybe if he rana 300 watt amp onto it, but shiit kicker 1200 to each would be great.

Who cares about "peak" power? Peak power doesn't mean ****, RMS is what you need to worry about.

A KX1200.1 would have no problem playing a pair of L7's. A 1200.1 on each L7 would also be fine.

You need to remember that most of what Kicker makes for subs and amps are WAY underrated. Just because the L7 says 1000 watts "peak" doesn't mean anything. Ma Gates runs a ZR1000 per 10L7 in the Bronco and they usually put out 12-1300WRMS.

^ ohhh beat me to that one.

What is wrong with one sub amp to a pair of 12L7.

Why run that much? Please tell me the car only comes out for DB drag?
