I asked him if the Rockford subs would work free-air (or infinite baffle) and he started to laugh at me and said that no speaker will make any sound without a box behind it.
I told him yes it would. You just need to seperate the back wave from the front. He then said that a 8 inch sub would sound like a 4 inch speaker if you did that. I was going to bring up that some of the top SQ guys in the world run 8's in their doors as infinite baffle setups but I decided it wasnt worth the time. Then he started to make fun of Futureshop and I told him that the Langley Futureshop has been doing a couple demo vehicles and that I almost got a job at the Futureshop in Richmond. He again started to laugh and asked me why I would want a job at Futureshop.. he then said "you already know more then any of the installers or salesmen there"

I should have told him to get the hell out of the store cuz I knew more about car audio then he does.
I love going into a store to ask if they sell Rockford decks and seeing just how dumb the sales people are.. lol

 

i imagine that the dude that you were talking to probably had only one install in his mind. he probably tried putting a pair of sub's on the deck of a car and didn't take into consideration that the seat's probably folded down. either way we would be right in that scenario, but it still makes him a dumbass for saying something so dorky as that. i guess that he probably doesn't have any common sense or something.

 

Dave, what store and which salesman? Maybe I'll pay a visit too Might as well reply publically so we all know who the dumbass is

 

The Guildford store and it was a big guy.. no clue what his name is though.

He also said that Rockford decks suck. All the reviews I read said the Rockford decks were pretty good. I'm gonna have to start using the record feature on my phone to record good convos like the one I had with that guy.

PS: I did not and do not goto stores just to make the sales ppl sound stupid. I was actually looking for the price of the Rockford deck since me and my friend were in the mall anyways.

Ah sweet, the Guildford Mall location. Excellent Smithers I'm not too far from there and have been in that store here and there. Never talk to any salespunks...uh....salesmen cuz I figure they just waste my time anyway [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]
