Inverting a sub question
Inverting a sub question
I picked up a Rockford Fosgate P2 12inch sub a few weeks back, and I want to add it to my trunk over the winter, atm I got 2 10inch p1's in there. I wanted to Invert the 12inch sub in the raised floor in my trunk. My question is how does inverting work? do i need to build a special kind of box to get the same sound as if it was in a normal box?
any tips will be greatly appricated
Thanks

okay, this is what i want to do.
I have already made a base floor for my trunk out of mdf, n plan to mount my amp cap n that inverted sub there, obviously i will cut out a whole on the base floor for the sub to push out. Next I was going to raise the floor about 2 1/2 inches or 3 inches with amp cap n sub magnet cut outs, so atleast i can have some kind of trunk space. n the half the magnet will b sticking out of the second floor. going to carpet it all n should/hopfully look good.
So do i have to make some kind of box between the two floors for the sub??
Thanks

Yes, the sub still needs to be in a box. RF recommends anywhere from .7 to 1.8 cubes sealed. This gives you lots of room to play with. Make it around 1-1.5cuft with the sub inverted and should be fine.

he's right isn't he? if you inverse mount your subs doesn't the space your vehicle takes up in the universe collapse on itself, creating a tear in the space-time continuum equal to the size of the woofer, in this case 12 inches?
