I am looking to purchase a pair of the 608GTi for my doors and a pair of c508GTi to install in kickpanels. I have never had any JBL speakers and am looking for either possitive or negative feedback based on first hand experience/installation/auditioning with these components. Please do not reply with a general unless you have some intelligent reasoning behind it. (sorry if I seem rude but I get sick of all the useless blaspheming)
Take a look-see http://www.jbl.com/car/products/category.aspx?cat=cos

I installed a pair of 6.5s in my girlfirends 1996 Acura Integra doors.. and here are my thoughts:
1. Good price for the components but the sound quality was something to be desired. They seem to be missing some midrange - perhaps capped as such in an effort to keep them from sounding harsh. Average midbass too.
2. They had a different mounting technique where a mounting ring was screwed to the door and then the speaker was inserted and turned clockwise to lock into place. They stayed in place but because the mounting ring flexed it was difficult to lock them into place.
3. She beat the H... out of them with deck power from a 35x4 $200 deck and never burned a coil.

LOL.. I would hope you wouldn't be able blow the woofer with deck power... you shouldn't even be able to blow the tweeters...

Well... it's actually the distorted power that comes from cheap amplification that creates heat in the coils of speakers, which expand and typically scrath the spider cone (creating even more heat) and begins clipping to the point that either the coil is broken or subsequently fuses itself to the spider cone.. I've run lots of really clean power from high end amplifiers to cheap speakers and they've never burned a coil - even though I could have launched one right out if I tried..

ive got a set of 5 1/4" comp from jbl in my car and i think there great. only thing i find is teh tweet can be a bit bright because the ones i have do not have a crossover unit. just an inline crossover for the tweet. they handle lots of power ( 75 rms ) and soudn sweet to me. they compliment my kicker S10L5 perfectly . fim my opinion you cant go wrong. and hey its harmon kardon cant go wrong (Y)

I also just installed the JBL Power Series P550c in my Focus in the Q-Form Kicks... Wow they have some mid bass output and real clean output... The tweeter is bright but a few adjustments on the position and headunit settings and they sound great. Still my most favorite tweeter is the old Polk Audio MM3000...

Being run off a Premier 440 and Zapco AG360... not using the symbilink yet due to lack of cables in my area.. Doh..

Is there a major reasoning for using the JBL components? You could use Infinity, which are made by the same company as JBL. If you want some better mids that is an option.
