JL 12W3V3-2 question

^ True, but their 12W6 and their W7s maybe.
12W3 is half the amount of 12W6, probably for a good reason! :P
I think I'm going to go for the Alpine Type-R.
It needs a pretty small sealed box. Around 1 cf max I think.
Going to power with my current JBL 600.1 amp.
I also picked up Kicker KS602 for the fronts and KS600s for the back.
I also picked up a Pioneer Premier GM-X644 to power them.
What you guys think? Good system?

I'll reiterate, I am not bashing JL by any means. is Yuli being sarcastic saying they are the best?...probably.
But they are also far from the worst, I just don't think the W3 is the answer in this particular case.
Now if the original poster was asking about the W6 for SQ and some power handling, I'd definitely say good choice.

Its all good ..... I was simply stating earlier in the thread that JL is WAY underrated. My W6's are rated at 400 rms "optimum", 600 rms "thermal power handling", and I give them over that just about every time I listen to them. hehe, I like it loud!!
Going from his old setup to one sub will be hard to impress. I think that in the right ported box the JL will sound better at the same power level than the Type R. It would also have more excursion that the Type R as the R is rated for more power. His amp won't kill a 12W3v3 in a properly tuned ported enclosure and IF YOU HAVE THE SPACE for 1-13W3v3 would be a PERFECT daily slammer and SOUND GOOD doing it.
Either one will do fine, but I can link you to a buddy that had 2 old 12W0's lol and when one died he bought 2 type R 12's and said he wasn't impressed at all. Now he's stuck with subs he can't get rid of for anywhere near what he paid.

slamming and sounding good are two different things my friend.
anyway, I'm not out to prove anyone wrong about anything, I did really like the sound of my W3's, they just couldn't handle power worth a crap and still sound good...now, if we were talking the W6 against the type R, I'd flush the type R down the toilet, the W6 is an awesome sub where the W3 is mediocre at best.
