For those who have not looked at the specs and listened to the amp then you are advising this guy on branding and not fact. A more fair comparison would be the slash series 1000/1 to a KAC-X1R but the slash is twice as expensive and not the question at hand.

The Kenwood rips out 1200Wrms at two Ohms, has a revised version of the old Sigma Servo Drive for more driver control, requires less current (more efficient) than the slash series. If you do require running your impedance at 4ohms final then the slash is your choice.

Having said that, Comparing a JL Slash series to the JL A series is an apples to Oranges comaprison. Then the X1R to the A-Series makes no sense either, plus the Kenwood has a lot smaller foot print to boot.

I guess I owe everybody who gave their opinion an update. I ended up purchasing the Kenwood amp. So far it has performed very well.

I have it running a 4 ohm load and have set the gains for 45 V (506 W) at the highest comfortable listening volume produced by my deck and front speakers. I haven't scoped it yet, but I can tell there is little to no distortion. The bass is much tighter than the previous amp I had (JL E1200 that came with the car).

I also really like the display that it has. I have watched the bass drain the battery when the car is off (it is amazing how quickly this happens too, I guess I need a new battery next).

Overall, I would definitely give this amp a thumbs up.

Cheers.

I kinda went the distance for my main amplifier and got a KAC9152D (900RMS @ 1 ohm) to power 2 15" Kicker CVR's. Now at the time I didn't really know to much, and was running it all at half an ohm. I ran it for 7 months like this, and it never once changed in performance, and it was never even close to over heating, was always around the temperature of my hand, if not a little more. For amps, I'll probably always go with kenwood. They are a big name, and have any nothing but good results. I even got a pair of their 6x9's (KFC-6960ie's) and I ran them off the deck.... They were so clear they were comparable to my friends kaptions running of an amp. Clear, loud, and never distorted with my subs in the trunk. I wouldn't consider my self a pro installer, i'm decent if anything, and it still never gave me any trouble. That says something in it self. My 2 cents...
