The two 8's offer more cone surface area and should be louder if they are in a ported box, since they won't be ported I would go with the single ten, ported box and more power.......but like I originally said, you won't go wrong with either, in your situation the outcome should be virtually identical either way. To me simpler is usually better, thats why I prefer the single speaker and single box.

so then if i go with the 2 8" it should be as loud as the 10 but should be better SQ cause it's sealed right?

Sure they can! The size of the box, speaker design, power, port tuning frequency all determine how low it can or will play. In a ported box, the frequencies fall off fairly quick below the ports tuning and few ported boxes have a really low tuning frequency......the ones that do are generally pretty large. In a sealed box, the speaker will play lower, box size makes a difference as well.........this explanation is simplified somewhat, for your understanding, there can be many exceptions to this because of vehicle type and the skills of the systems designer.

This is a Funny thread, I have to agree with Trebor, Do some searching on Realm of excursion, and more importantly look up Soundsplinter RL-IP's , there is a video of 2 8" in a CRX and NO one could guess what it was!! Its all in box, setup, and quality! The same person, when he decided to kill his lil 8's, hooked them up to I believe it was 1500wrms and did just over a 150db's with them!! So 8's can do alot of things!! I am a firm believer in a single 10" over 2 8's though! But that is just my ignorant old school thinking!! lol
With that being Said, I say Get the 2 8", get a good enclosure, feed them some Clean power and enjoy

hmmm, This thread is surprising.
2 8s over a 10?
Well I guess, if I was a professional system builder, I'd design it so that the 8 inchers could go as low as the 10 incher.
But I'm not.
So isnt the 10 incher a good way to go low and loud?
