JVC KW-NT3HDT, can we use it?

As you may know, there are two versions of this head unit. A Canadian version, the KW-NT3HD, and the US version with the "T" at the end. I believe the only difference in the US version is that it has a lifetime subscription to "Total Traffic" which is real-time data feed that gives you weather, news, yadda yadda. From what I understand we don't have this service in Canada, but I'd like to know if we can still use the "T" version head unit.

Will this radio's units, i.e. miles vs kilometers, be fixed via hardware where I can't change them? Are the maps of Canada as detailed as the Canadian radio's version? Has anyone bought this radio and lives in Canada?

I want to buy it, but this is my only hang up.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I have it. Everything works except the total traffic thing as u have stated. I like the unit very much and have had no problems with it but I have owned it for only 8 months so take that for what it's worth

This means a lot. Thank you. Within 8 months of using it, I think you would have seen any major flaws like the standard radio/GPS not working, or not being able to set it to metric units.

I can't believe I found one fellow canadian with the US version, any more out there?

I got mine for a very good price and I go to the states once every 2 weeks so the extra features are useful at times

Price, price, price. About $3-400 cheaper.

That's awesome, I take it you haven't had any issues with it either right?
