Kenwood DNX890HD Features

I am considering this navigation deck but I have a question that I cannot seem to find an answer to, regarding the unit's app mode with my iPhone 4 and IOS 6.1.X. According to the Kenwood website, in addition to Pandora, Aha and iHeartRadio...

Neither Kenwood technical support nor other vendors (Crutchfield and my local authorized Kenwood dealer) can tell me what this means. What various audio and video apps? And further, what type of control is available, if any, through the HU of these apps? If anyone can shed some light on this for me I would appreciate it.
