kicker s12l7

Hey all,
I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with the s12l7's. Good, bad, whatever.
Also how did they perform for SQ/SPL. And would there be a better choice driver for the same price as 2 s12l7's.
Thanks.

After hearing the L7, I'll say it's great, but of course that was in an optimized box.
One guy I know we know as Hakujin on here has what's believed to be the loudest 12L7 in BC, apparently 148-149db off one sub with 750W RMS.
He's got more info on it to and his experiences with the sub. I heard it and there's peices of my brain still left in his car. It's a shame that with it he hits higher numbers than my stroker.

I ran two off a rockford 1000bd (500W a piece) in a 7.5 cube ported box. Hit 143.8 at the international stereo competion in my 4runner. Need more power though. I could clip my amps with no problem and the subs wanted more more more. I agree at least 750 a sub if you want to get everything out of them. I had them in a 1.3 cubic foot sealed for a little while. They need way more power in a sealed my 500w a peice could hardly move them. I sold the 4runner and have a prelude now so I just built a 1.75 cubic foot ported box and loaded my drivers isobarik. Sounds pretty good, not nearly as loud as before but what do you expect going from 7.5 cube to 1.75. All in all you need sh*t loads of power to make these subs sound good. The whole concept behind the solobaric when i was originally built was almost like two subs in one, twice the cone mass of a normal sub so it could go into a smaller box, but you need twice the power to get the same output as a normal sub. Hope I didn't put you to sleep with my little solobaric novel. Anymore questions let me know.

^ Yeah but Alma, I heard from a guy who knew someone that talked to another dude that read on the internet (so it must be true) that you use handbuilt titanium super woofers that are actually 15" cones in 10" frames and have 5 voice coils with freon cooling and that is bad cuz freon is bad and stuff
Alma is cool.

I'm running my S12L7 in a 1.25 cubic box from an xtant 1001d. The sub is used and about 2 years old (I think). Great sound quality and it pounds pretty good in my hatchback. Just as everyone else has said; if you put it in a big, well made box, the driver will pound. All in all an excellent driver.
