thanks for all the props on the ZR's, but we sell way more ZR and SX then we ever dreamed with the ZR's....the SX line, as well as the KX has more power and flexability over the older ZR's, and the features of the SX's are untouchable...
granted, I loved the ZR, they did have their place at one time.

IMO, the new kicker subs look like cheap audiobahn knockoffs, the performance may be the same, but the looks are wretched.

I have a Q. about running the ZR amps at 1/2 rated load like loud brown was talking about.... I know a guy who has 2 12L7's on a ZR600 @ 1ohm and he swears it's doing 1200W RMS clean....

Just the other day another guy was showing me his 15W0 on the same amp, and said he was thinking about new subs and running the amp @ 1ohm...

So I now take it that this would have the same pitfalls as running any other amp @ 1/2 rated load...... ?

They are nicely underrated and true performers that's for sure but 1200rms is a dream IMO.

In fact, the ratings for the ZR600 are;
600x1@4ohm
600x1@2.66ohm
550x1@2ohm

So you can see the amp favours a higher load.
If you wanted an amp to bridge down you would have wanted the XS line.

And performance ratings vary on every amplifier. Some are designed to be abused much more than others and some will compensate for user's trying to load them down too far. Many will just say FU and fill your trunk with smoke.

i wouldn't go with a 1/2 ohm mono load, 1 ohm lowest(burps only)
the kicker zr line was very under-rated, the zr360 will put out 500wrms,the 600 is close to 800wrms
the kx line is the old impulse stuffed into a fancy can .but the sx amps are actually based on the zr
check out the thd to older units and you'll see what i mean

actually, the Impulse and KX line is quite different. There were even more revisions this year, 2004 on the KX's that even make them better.

The SX's will blow away any flexability the ZR could even think about.

from sales point of view, we think a majority likes them, but we appreciate all the feedback, whether good or bad. Thanks!
