You know ......the more I think about this.... the more it really pisses me off !!

But you cant sell to everyone.......and quite frankly do you really want to sell to a guy that tries to put the screws to you on price anyway. If he's not willing to pay for some service and your expertise........f**k 'em !! Find a guy that will and focus on him......forget the yahoo who's trying save $10-$15.

He probably be the guy that bitches and moans about the least little thing too......waste of time !! You didn't make enough dough off the guy to want to service him either.....it aint worth the grief and time. I dont even know the guy.....and he's wasted my time tonight !!

I say bullsh*t to PG not being sold on the internet. It has more products than any other brand on ebay!
But I do agree with your opinion of customers who do not place value in stores etc. But if you help the guy who is getting no service or support via the internet, you might make a loyal customer as well. But this is easy to say, but i feel saying f*ck you to people who want support for my products and they bought them online.

People have to understand (or be educated) that customer service and warrantee is not free. It just doesn't happen out of thin air. It costs someone somewhere. Both I believe are key with regards to good business practices though. And there is value in this sort of practice as some stuff is becoming junkier/cheaper then ever before........... and customers WILL have issues/concerns. Some of the CRAP I've seen in the last while, including B-stock/refurbs and other junk being pawned off as something else. Brutal.

And I do think that online business can provide a certain level of decent customer service, but in our industry, it can't touch brick and mortar because of the "type" of service that is offered by a real dealer that online cannot accomplish. And this is generally speaking. Sure, there are some dealers out there that really are not looking out for anyone's interest but their own and would steal a dime from their dying grandma............ but for the most part with dealers that are in it with a longer term business plan, this applies I think.

With regards to warrantee, sure an online dealer can provide their own, but do they have factory backing (parts, schematics, etc.) to fix equipment properly or is it a cheap mom and pop shop playing the guessing game on a "fix".......... or worse, is it an inhouse guessing game with a meter and a soldering iron ?? Who knows.

The day that the manufacturer will stop selling their "overstock" to e-bay shops and Trailer Park Tim's Discount Audio Emporium and Flea Market.com is the day that the industry will start to resurrect itself from this problem.

As I see it is simple. Phoenix built too much stuff that they could not sell through their regular retail channels. So do they sit on it or dump it to someone who will sit on it and sell it as they see fit. Do they next open a "branded" outlet like High Desert (Rockford) to clear overstock out all the while cutting the throats of the dealers they are trying to build relationships with.

The manufacturers need to control their inventory way better so as not to create this flood of overstock in the first place. Will the manufacturer do this, nope, of course not as it is all about the number of boxes they move regardless of who is buying them. We have to do x% more business this year guys, we need to grow. Lets dump our overstock below dealer cost to that guy in Miama and then we can ramp up for the new models coming in..... Then the guy in Miami sells it for penies on the $ and makes the retailer look like an ***. Where did the problem start, with the retailer or the manufacturer?

James, I think what Grant was saying was that Trends will not sell to these types of companies. Trends however while doing their part cannot control what happens in the US market which is where the real problem lies.

With regards to DD, does that mean you would stock ever model and every voice coil config in the DD line since you would provide this service by having stock on hand ???..............I don't think so......... </font>[/QUOTE]Of course not Tim, that's ridiculous... But having *something* in stock is a good idea.
