Long port vs less port area

Someone here said a vent longer than 20" isn't recommended. I don't know how a port works over long distances.

Which would you choose?
Port 3.75 x 14.5 x 45.375 // 3 @ 31
Port 3 x 12.5 x 27.5 // 3 @ 32

IMO you are tuned too low.

The last time I tuned to 36hz I didn't get much low end performance. If my long-port box doesn't work, I'm going with 2 sealed 12's .

Low end performance is affected more by how big the box is than where you tune it -within reason of course.

So a 3 cubes @ 35hz could have the same lows as 2.5 @ 30? Is that far off?

right. Probably more 'listenable' bass.
