Looking to get back into Pioneer lately ..... input?

A few years back the local audio shop I regularly dealt with dropped Pioneer in their line-up. They complained that Pioneer's customer support was lacking, large. A few scenario's were given (don't remember what now, sorry), but they were done with them.

I'm now in a position to build a small, inexpensive system for my little truck and getting a push from a different, not local shop, to go ahead with Pioneer.

So, for those in the biz and not - how has Pioneer been lately? I know "they don't make 'em like they used to", but that doesn't say anything for customer service.

Myself personally I was a big fan in the '90's and still am today (always wanted a complete Pioneer system, might just get it now), but I wanna be sure that if there's a problem Pioneer will take care of me if I need it. I realize the shop has a role to play in this too, but i'm not looking for references on this poster, just Pioneer's customer service.

Thanks!
Andrew

we've had no issues with pioneers service at all. Their products are feature packed and very well well priced. If you get stuff from their premiere line the add a feture or 2 to each unit and give a 2 year warranty.

Sound wise they are very good, the higher end eclipse and kenwood units sound a bit nicer through, but the pioneers are efinately an easy step ahead of JVC, Dual, Sony etc.

If you get an 800PRS it was designed purely for SQ and has different guts than the rest of the pioneer uits.

I can't see pioneer itself beeing a problem, you say you know that the shop plays a role, I would think the shop plays THE role in after sale service.
