Looking for a little guidence..

Hey guys,

I'm new to this whole car audio game, and I was wondering if you all couple help me out a little, I have a 2001 Accent GS, and as some may know there is sufficent trank space, but it is a small car I am wondering:

What do you guys think I should purchase to give some nice pounding?

Should I do 2 10", or 2 12", or even 1 of each?

What about Amps... (As said I dont know crap...)

If any of you guys could help me out that would be great.

Thanks

Hey Man!, you can pretty well do anything to a hack that is going to pound. You have to first look at how much you want to spend? then look at your main musical intrest. After that it just comes down to power, enclosure, and your personal taste. I would go out and alk to some friends with systems and find out what you like. It's all personal prefrence. I do know that both 12's and 10's will pound.

Well,

I listen to mainly some rock, and some rap, but I know the speakers in my car are terriable, so that will also be something I would have to replace, but I am looking to really just have them pound when I want them to, and to have them toned down when I need to, really as most will say or feel the same (its to show off, now many of my friends have systems..).

But I am looking to hopefully buy used, considering I dont want to break the subs in all over agian, and if I buy used, I would look to spend from 500 - 600 which would hopefully cover (deck, amp, subs) I know thats hit or miss, but then agian the deck could always wait if it had to.

A sub is the single most abused part of a stereo system. Based on buying someone's ab"used" subs, I would wait on the cd player and channel your $ onto a good set of 12's, a proper box for them and an amp to do the job. For 6 bones you have lots of options.

So buying used is the route I should go, or should I just buy new?

What do you mean break your subs in?

You could go either way. If you were to buy used make sure they are inspected - buyer beware. I once heard that you don't want to get Sony Xplode cuz that's all they'll do. I also had a Sony deck that was defective right out of the box. Yeah I had them fix it and it eventually went again. I think it was the lens.

I saw a deal on BestBuy where, there are 10inch subs plus a box for 89.99 or something like that, but I dont know if that is such a good idea, plus I have no idea what to do when it comes to an amp..

I bought my speakers new frnt and 6(9) in the back, as well as my deck. I had my subs 2 10" used. The amp was an old one too that my brother used to run. It depends what you want competition or your listening pleasure.

No no, not competition, just something to show off, and for my own pleasure
