Find yourself a component set that has a adjustable tweeter then, if it is too bright, it can be tuned down. You will also have more than ample room to rotate that tweeter some in the stock opening to make it less direct as well.

Also try looking for components with a silk tweeter rather than aluminum or titanium. They will be a lot harsher and more piercing than a silk. I went from JLs with silk to CLarions with titanium and had to turn the tweeters down on the xover -3db as they were too harsh for me. They are still a little much at times, but overall much better.

In the end, i already bought the Energy 3.5" Coax and its pretty much a perfect fit.
The question remains if i should match the 5.25" door speaker with another Energy from the same series or use the Alpine Type S that i already have and is paid for?
Ideally i would want to use the Alpine to not waste any more money but if the results will be poor because they do not match the dash speakers then i will take the loss.

Are you happy with how it sounds? Say you bought the Energies and didn't like them.... could you bring them back?

If ya got the cash to try ..... you can always bring them back. Just be real careful not to damage them cosmetically.

The energy's for the price are good little speakers. I like the look of them. The tweeters are more bright than the alpines. But it all depends on how you like your speakers to sound. They are worth taking a look at for a budget speaker. They come in 6.5 component as well for about $140

The way i see it, having the Energy Coax in the dash location is still better than having a tweeter there all by itself, at least with the coax there will be some mid coming out of it too which will soften the sound, i hope!
