Mazda 6 sub setup that won't kill my trunk

Caps are bullshit there is no point in using them EVER.
Do upgrade your power and ground wires from your alternator and your engine block to the battery (search BIG 3 UPGRADE) and you'll be fine.
i big 3'd with 4 gauge, rebuilt alternator (old truck) and i run 150amps current and my lights dont dim (only dim when im idling) caps are just add more resistance to the system..

NOW you're giving advice to other members on similar topics???? "I don't think you'll need a cap" ???
I'm not trying to make this personal but don't give advice if you don't know what you're talking about dude. Someone may not know the difference and listen.

Stay away from caps(JL amps don't need - 11v-14.4 same power)....get plenty of 4 gauge cable and get the big three done with the install. The JL W3 will be just fine for your application - The W6 is a great speaker in your situation I would spend the money on proper install and **the big three**.
The wicked boxes look like a deal the only issue that would bother me is the warranty on the JL - buy the fibreglass enclosure on it's own and get the sub locally incase!

Veenan - thanks again.
Do you think I would need any polyfill in the box to compensate for the small enclosure space?
I'm going to get my stuff ordered with my next paycheque.
Do you think I would need a capacitor with the Slash2 500/1v2 amp and the rest being stock Bose setup?

stuffing is not a bad idea, selaed enclosures are pretty forgiving in terms of volume, but if you add about a pound per cubic foot, it yields a virtual box volume that's 25% larger (on average). This will make your .85 cubes behave like it's 1.0 plus cubes. Mine is stuffed. As far as the cap, Avidtr said it best....JL slash amps are stiffly regulated and therefore deliver full power from low voltage (11 volts) to high (14+ volts). Therefore, any benefit that may be had by a capacitor is negated, as the amp's power supply takes care of sagging supply voltage! Good luck, have fun and post photos when you're done!
