Just some added info, I beleive I read that the engine has no forged internals whatsoever, they just slaped on the turbo with little changes to modify compression so that it could accomadate a little boost.

If speed is what you want, I doubt this is the car to get it in.

However, it has been quoted to be one of the best handeling cars in its category. With not to much turbo lague.

I do agree though, I defenetly prefer the mazda 6. But thats just me.

I got beside an MSP last night coming home from work. Had an Mpsport.net sticker on it, had an intercooler upgrade behind the lower grille (which would be the first thing I would do as the stocker is pathetic) and a blow-off valve.

Mazda frustrates me. They always come up short of the mark of making the hottest cars in their class. Protege5: excellent car, cool looks, great handling, nice price but SLOW. MP3: had all the looks of a street import racer and handling but again NO POWER. MSP: Finally! A turbo! But only 170 HP? Needs another 20 at least to be a serious contender. They keep the boost so mild on that thing. So much potential there.

For that kind of bread, I would personally wait until the SRT4 comes to Canada and spend an extra $1k for a car that wipes the streets with the MSP. And don't even begin about the Neon POS theory. I've owned an 02 R/T for a year and it's been excellent. SRT4: 215 HP (underrated), 2.4L for big torque, 14 psi of boost, and no mufflers SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH VROOOM! PSHHHH VROOOOOOOOM PSHHH

If your running a turbo you need premium gas.

sux2bu.. but what if speed is not the reason for the purchase?? What if I am buying it for the looks and styling inside and out? And the rarity of the vehicle? It is a nice car, correct?

Professor, don't laugh but I had a 91 Turbo sprint back in the day.. I ran it with regular unleaded and never had a problem.. I don't think the fuel has any effect on the turbo, does it? I would assume proper start up and shutdown play more of a factor.. correct me if I am wrong...

Even though its not fast, and I doubt you can turn the boost much on it like you can on other turbo'es cars.

I do beleive they are exellent cars.

It requires premium because all turbo'd cars require it due to the boost. If you don't put premium in, expect to lose close to 15% of the horsepower. I chose the gti 1.8t over the speed and rsx, doesn't handle as well but its built like a tank and has huge sound possibilities. Also the car is like a luxury sedan in ride, engine, interior... no kidding.
