McIntosh MCC446
just wondering if anyone has First Hand experience with these amps.
what were your impressions?
current value?
i'm thinking of selling my pdx 4.150 and picking one up.
thanks for any input!

I did not own that model... But I was very happy with my McIntosh amp, nice effortless brute force power, well made, well engineered.
kind of big and clunky compared to the PDX... both have the nice blue and black colour scheme
unless there is something that you are dissatisfied with specifically with the Alpines I would stick with them. I have seen them in many an SQ competitors vehicle.

nothing wrong, just an itch to change something. and i came across one of those mc's for less than $400. as well as a cdx-c90, 4000x, and changer for a little more. are pretty mint.
which amps of theirs do you have experience with?

i'd be running it 4 channel.
bridged, channels 1+2/3+4 = 200rms
channels 5,6= 110 rms each.
so i would actually be putting more power to my fronts and a little less to my rears, which is perfect.

ya they have crossovers on any amp i have seen.
i know the newer metered versions have an adjustable crossover.
but from pictures, it appears as though the 446 has fixed points at 120/80/off for highs, 80/off for sub. ...these are just pictures though, so i wasn't sure.
many of their newer amps have eq's as well. granted they are simply 1 band adjustable eq's to help with and major peak you have in your car.
you are right though, for the most part they do offer purist products.
regarding the 446, i am picking one up tonight!!!
i am not necassarily going to get rid of the pdx, i am going to do back to back testing on the two, see which one i like.
then i will have some direct experience to contribute to that old argument of sonic variations between amps!!
i'll keep everyone posted with what i find.
i already posted the pdx fs....but im not 100% on that anymore, either way, one of the two will be for sale in the next couple of weeks!
