what's better for making sub boxes... as far as sound quality... etc...

does one resonate sound better than another.

Typically you'll want the stiffest material you can find, with high MOE (modulus of elasticity). MDF fits the bill for most people because it's fairly rigid, and fairly cheap. It's only downside really is its weight, plus it's a carcinogen, so try not to breathe the dust in. [img]smile.gif[/img] Particle board and plywood are cheaper materials, but pretty flimsy. Baltic birch (13 ply) is probably the stiffest, and weighs less than MDF, but comes at a premium price.

 

what about plexy glass for boxes?

I really don't think it makes a differance if you use particle board or MDF...particle board is cheaper...the only real differance is if you hit particle board off something it chips like crazy

 

Good ply is stronger, more durable, lighter... and more expensive...

MDF is cheap, is usually good enough, and works well with fiberglass...

Apparently there are a few different grades of MDF that are better then the regular stuff (stronger)... but I've never seen it....

yes marine grade plywood is one one the best materials for building boxes.

weather you use mdf,plywood or partical board(not recomended) make sure you brace.

as for using plexi glass.it has been done before. plexi glass can be melted togther. dont know what thickness to use.
