ME (Mobile Entertainment) Magazine
#12
I couldn't care less about ME. We're not missing much. I bought the first issue of ME and it was the last. I haven't purchased a car mag since. I did read through a few issues of PAS but the only thing worth reading was DM's articles.
Magazines are trying to cover too much and as such they do so with very little depth.
I'm certain that if a publisher decided to go back to the old Car Stereo Review, CAE or *** formats, they would quickly gain popularity. Many individuals such as myself would return to the newstands for a quality publication.
I'm suprised that IASCA hasn't attempted to create a publication. The only problem that I see is a potential conflict of interest between product reviews and manufactures from sponsers. Regardless, there will always a conflict of interest between product reviews and magazine sponsers...

Does thsi mean we won't have to read about Mike Metlers oh so gay life dedicated following of the Tragically Hip in every issue.
When the editor put his what I've been listening to this month in his magazine and calls it his "Set List" makes me wonder (a set list is a bands list of songs they are going to play)
I think he really wants to be a rolling stone editor, that only reports on the Hip.
Ps I hope he moves on with the new mag that comes out......he's a nerd LOL

You hit the nail on the head, Jamie. I miss Bill Wolfe, he was a little self indulgent at times, but at least he made sure the magazines focus was Audio. Message to Mike Mettler, you are never going to make the Hip big in the U.S. so stop trying!
Another person I really miss reading is Peter Mitchell, his reveiws were the best I had ever read bar none.

Dereck, I have met Peter personally. His writing is the real deal.
I was a little surprised when I first met him back in 92, as I was expecting him to be physically smaller than he was. It made his travels at trade shows very difficult.
Back to the topic at hand.
Scrolling up this thread, I see people that could easily write for the magizine we all want.
It's possible...

So I get my bi-weekly ME Hotwire email today and first off it says nothing at all about this change and secondly it says that the "entire ME staff will be at CES"
That would almost make it worth the trip to go and congratulate them on how much of a piece of trash the magazine has become

My guess is that the staff will move over to RoadGear and that they will simply turn it into yet another attempt to clone PAS.. Just like CarSound and Speed, Style and Sound did.
Lots of cars, lots of audio and the ability to make advertisers happy. Sadly, I don't see the target car audio demographic running out to by Road and Track magazines. I'd be curious to see how well their other new publication 'Speed' is doing.
