Mid Bass clipping, what to do???

With all those dials on that JVC crossover, it would be easy to make any system sound like ***.
Maybe the system needs a re-tune.
In his system I dont really see a need for the crossover.....There is a lot of benefit from keeping the signal path as short and 'clean' as possible.

Hey Derek, I haven't got the rattle fixed yet, the tonaeu cover still rattles like hell. I got busy and did not have time to swing by for a while. I stopped by the other day but your not there anymore. I just might have to try some new mid bass speakers seeing that there seems to be no cure. I was thinking of moving them up front in the door and putting the mids in some kick panels (like you suggested from the start) I just didn't have the cash then. For the time being I'm just going to disconnect them and bridge both amps using the kicker for the infinity's and the orion on the rockfords. If you're still installing, let me know how to get a hold of you and I'll get you to finish the system if you want.

Are the midbass able to fire through the doorskin ???
I will assume yes...
mid bass are non-directional so having them at the back of the door isn't a huge deal IMO.. (although having them firing into the seats might kill some output)
Id probably look for some new midbass speakers and see what happens... almost anything with a decent amount of linear Xmax should be suitable...

Shawn, I am not currently installing, but I will let you know when I get going again. Right now I just don't have the space required. Putting the mids in the kickpanels and moving the midbass up front would help, but those midbass just don't have the excursion to keep up nowadays, I hfound the specs a while back and they have like a 2mm xmax or something.
Haunz, the doors have factory vents back there, the midbass fire through them.

Shawnlh, I have had the same problems with my midbass and I have tried various speakers to fix the problem: PG zeropoints, Focal polyglass, Morel 165's, all great speakers meant for IB but they all sucked nonetheless.
The only thing that seemed to work was a sealed enclosure for a 6 on the door (lots of work) or a bigger speaker. I think that you are on the right track with your amp config, and x-over settings and you need a fundamental change rather than just swapping to a newer 6.
Nice looking install otherwise!
