How is the exile 800.4 a 50watts per channel amp? Unless your comp set is 8ohms?

You have enough power, sounds like you don't have a low pass set on them.

I was told that the exile800 puts out roughly 200 watts per channel but only 50 -75 rms per channel, i could be misinformed , the amp was only a few hundred bucks new, so i thought that 50-75 rms was reasonable for the price.
the mlks never distort or crackle always crystal clear but there are a few songs that really pounds the mids and i think they are going beyond there max, ive had 3 do it over a year , was told i could reinforce with silicone from the underside of the cone? never had a problem with my energy components , with same setup, apparently theres a light on the amp indicating clipping but ive never seen it lit up.

I meant high pass not low pass.

That's your problem. On your amp, set the front that's on your speakers to high pass or HP and set the xover know around 80hz. No more problems.

Sorry to threadjack......

Is there a thread somewhere that talks about this? I new there had to be a better way then 'listen till distortion, and turn it back a bit!'

When I do it I use white\pink noise. It gives you a good range

Use should always run your tweets on a crossover. It will be harder to blow that way lol
