I'm surprised they lasted this long.

I took their courses about 15 years ago and back then the audio industry in Canada was going down the toilet. Many shops in Toronto were closing and they had all kinds of IASCA wins under their belt that couldn't help them.

The only people that seem to get through times like these are the "deck and 6x9" shops that do work for insurance claims.

When hard times roll around, the first things to do are the luxury items

i agree with dukk, but dissagree with frankb, i never went to md, but am learning under some installers who did, they really know thier stuff and im learning a great deal fast. I did backyard style and had no industy exp but am now being paid to work and learn something i love. too bad about md but to be honest if you have some exp and are willing to learn fast, save the cash and buy tools and get a job learning.

before doing job learning i suggest doing personnal systems first. a couple anyway in different cars. ive done 5 systems so far 1 in my first car 2 in my van and 2 in my currrent van. 2 in my buddys cars too. this experience helped me alot to get my job. ( also thanks to this board for helping me through) i wanted to go to MD also but it was too expensive. and now well theres no chance lol. hope this industry picks up again... it will but how long will it take?

$1,840,000.00 in tution at one point according to the article's numbers.

Overhead is what? A buidling, utilities, labor.

Since that was a private education center, I dont "think" the people teaching needed Degree's, teaching cerificates, etc., so labor should have been relatively cheap.

All other overhead should be fixed, with no capitol expenditures either, maybe a few computers, audio video equipment, etc.

Wonder where all the money went?

ok my guess is that frankb failed out the class and is really unhappy at the school. i went to the school and became a great installer because of it, the training i got from this school was worth every penny i paid. i am sad to hear they closed the doors because i can say i have never talked to anyone who has had more knowledge then the staff at this school. And for you to attack this school is crazy, you think it produced worthless installers? i say bullshit, the people i went to school with where some of the best installers i have seen, yes there where some retards that didn't belong there, but for the most part great installers came from it. i am about to pass my masters mecp test thanks to this school and the trainning i got from the school. if you wanna attack anyone from this school it should be the people that failed to learn what the school had tought them, the people that did it " for something to do" you should attack the people that are failures at life and not failures of this school. i would put up a months paycheck saying that if you took two kids the same age and nither of them had any knowledge of how to install the kid form mobile dynamics would be far far further ahead in the know how in how to do the job then the kid that just got a job and tried to learn from doing it on the job. you can not attack the school for the people that come from it because in the end it is the people that are doing to work, wether they choose to learn what they have been tought or to be lazy and do it half ***'ed.

actually i did read what you said, and you just said it again........
i really think maybe you did fail out of this class, as like i said im learning under 2 installers who passed thier school and they know their stuff, infact im in alberta, one of them came all the way from newf, and his friend is on his way, also an installer, both from md, so if they can be offered a job across the country i'd say md trained some smart people. md only ripped off the kids who think its cool and dont want to have a career in installations, a friend of mine went to md about 4 years ago, still an installer to this day, had job offers before he even came home, so i dont think anyone who went there and passed would need help finding a job with good pay and benifits, hell i got them and im not even cert yet, just a backyard installer looking to go career.

Its not just me ask around shops will tell you md did nothing for their top installers .
But then again most top installers never had to go .
And just so you no I never went it was not around when I started and its not around now.
Help me find these great md installers so I can hire them I need 2 full time and 2 part time maybe more.
Thanks for the help !
