Mounting Amps Upside-Down...good idea?
^I looked at the XS line and it said it would overheat and shut down if installed upside down. Like I said in my post follow manufacturer recommendations.
Frankly it would cost a manufacturer $30 more per unit to eliminate any or all heat sensitive components in their design and we would have the electrical brick so many desire. But we all are penny pinchers so if they raise their price they must be gouging.
DWVW had an interesting point, the end mounted heat sinks would allow for better dissipation upside down, but they would have issues at 90 degrees.

buddy i probably have forgotten more than you know so give up on your dick measuring contest
as in for not installing 1000's of amps
as i said do the math
1 amp per week for 20 years is 1040 amps
not even close to being an unreal number
ask most installer how many they do
i have had customers of mine win (1st place ) iasca comps when iasca was something
i installed car amps before rca plugs ever exsisted
my first box design software was called lsd do you know what that stood for
my next piece of box software was sds
do you know what that stand for
i now use leap
i bought the loudspeaker cookbook read it and consumed it over 10 years ago
i also have richard clark and david navones first autosound printing of to which i have extesivly read
in my shop i also have one of the first autosound stiffening caps
i know what i do and i do it well
people like you who come off with you stupid comments and knowlage you get from reading other post proves nothing so get a life buddie

Pinhead, being someone of the age of 41 going on a much younger age it would appear I am pretty shocked by your need to make a list to show your length in the dick contest..............do you know slow/n\low ? Do you have and idea what his background is ?.................... while I didn't know yours until you posted it I do happen to know his background and it might surprise you..........................
Pinhead, why the hostility?
Ok, thats fine, you have installed over 1000 amps in your time. They were all upside down like you stated.
I am also happy that you can read, and that you have told me about your extensive knowledge base.
I do know one thing, that if an amplifier is not designed in such a way that you should mount it upside down then I would not recommend it. Yes it make work, but it is best not to, as it will spend up the death rate of your amp..
With someone of your wealth of knowlede I would have expected you to know that already

why would you doubt my claims
im not a lier and take it personally
as i said i don't beleive in this monkey see monkey do theory
to say it causes a problem i don't beleive it does and i have mounted enough amps that way to figure out that they all perform fine that way
there maybe a few that don't but from my experience they don't and that is what i'm basing my post on
no that make me a person that tries thinks on his own
alot of people discover things by doing that
not what somebody wrote in a book
heat will draw itself away form the amp when it does it will create a convection effect
which is effectively airflow
as in the heat sensitive parts being subjected to more heat the only parts that usually breakdown due to heat are the small electrolitic capacitors
and as a said the board is usually closer to the top of the amp
and if manufacturers were so worried about heat on the components why don't the vent the end plate
