hi guys. well my deck is a few years old, but i love it. its a pioneer premier p600 but isnt MP3 capable. on top of that i bought a brand new face for it recently, so i dont want to go out and get an MP3 deck, even though i should. i was thinking on changing cd changers. i have a 2 month old pioneer 1280 12-disk model that i bought new, and thought about selling it and getting an MP3 changer. i had some questions as well:

1. has anyone used one of these and do they work well ??

2. is it POSSIBLE to even run an MP3 changer up to a NON-MP3 deck ??

3. if so, can u hook up a different brand to a pioneer deck, since pioneer doesnt make MP3 changers ?? are the cables that run from the cd changer to deck all the same in every brand??? i was thinking along the lines of this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...eName=WDVW&rd=1

OR http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...gory=85808&rd=1

4. and are those changers half decent ones? or can u find them cheaper?? i couldnt personally find cheaper ones

thx a lot!

i will use the wise word's that we're given to me by anouther member. Think of the pioneer as some one who speak's english. then think of the cd changer from anouther company that speak's chinese. now if you try to hook those together, they arn't going to understand each other. so in easy term's nope won't work. unless you get one of those one with the control thing straight fomr the cd changer and hook the rca's to the back of the deck.

and also cheaper is not alway's the best way to go, unless you feel like replacing it alot? with all the time's you have had to replace it, you could just by a new deck/ cd changer that is better qulity.

sell the deck and get an mp3 deck used or new (they are pretty cheap now for very good quality decks). You won't even need a changer since you can put 100 high quality mp3s on a single disc. you might lose a few dollars but the convenience easily makes up for it. I rarely listen to regular cds anymore as I find that if I burn my discs with WMA(windows media audio) in variable mode and highest quality, it is impossible for me to discern the difference between the original and the compressed tracks. I can usually get about 40 tracks in this mode on a disc, which is more than enough as I find that too many tracks makes it difficult to search. Anyway, this is my 3 cents and my personal findings over the last few years. Hope it helps.

no usually an mp3 deck will specify whether it plays WMA files, not all mp3 decks play wma so make sure it does if it's something you may want.

look into the possibility of an iPod and an adapter, then you can have a portable MP3 player for home, work, etc.

If the deck has a AUX input then you can use any MP3 player with it...I hook up my 1.1gig rio chiba to my clarion. No cd's to mess with in the car.
