It will work fine wired up into 2 ohm with the 2 type r's but you will be underpowering them. amp is rated at 350w in 2ohm divid that by 2 =175w to each sub. the amp is a little under rated you could probably get about 200w to each sub so you are still gonna be unpowering them.

you won't run into any problems under powering them by 100 watts, you just might not get the desired output from them... but at least once you do upgrade to a bigger amp, you will notice a difference in the subs performance, so it would be like getting 2 new subs as well...

Yeah it definatly wont be perminent. I just want to get my system up and running and would rather drop $150 for this then $600 for for the mrd m605. Is there any other options you guys can think of for amps that are cheap, but will give me a good output to my subs? It would probably be temporary, because I just have this urge to do a full Alpine system for some reason lol. Also, has anyone bench tested one of these amps to see exactly what they really do?

lol sounds like me, i did all alpine, exept my focals, i tell people there alpine though lol, spend the extra money and get the MRD-m1005, i have two of those babies hooked up, ones running to a type X, today im expecting a kickass pay so im expecting to go pick up another type X. (i sugest this amp incase you ever want to expand. but yeah back to al all alpine system it grabs attension, i got the 9835 for a head, with siruis tunner, KCA-420i IPOD adaptor, two MRD-M1005's, and MRV-F545, alpines amp links, Focal in the frount , i even went to the trouble of finding a alpine alarm the alpine 8080, stone aged, but it has all the bells and whisles, and is just the best working system i have owned, i HIGHLY recomend this unit if you can still find one
