regarless of everything 22" woofers are cool. maybe mtx wont sell a single 1, who cares, its a very innpovative and cool product that is very worthy of being mentioned as to its release date. the likelyhood of anyone on this board buying one is very low and if that is the type of advertising mtx is relying on to hype this woofer, they will be very disappointed i'm sure. r&d dollars can be looked at in many ways when it comes to woofers, the main 2 are developing a product that can have mass distribution, be reliable, sound good and look good and 2, developing a product that has a cool story, will blow people away and speak for itself, who cares how it sounds, i think a 22" woofer that weighs 250 lbs or whatever that thing wieghs, falls under the 2nd catagory. it may sound great, it might not, the point is it really doesnt matter

As I once was an MTX dealer at my other store I heard all the hype about this sub before it was even public knowledge. It is a beast I will give it that. But for the size of it you would think it would handle way more than 6000 rms. Yes guys that is alot I agree. Now everyone turn there pasmags to page 130. It states that 6000 rms peak. With a 900 oz magnet. And mica filler for stiffnes. Basically I wanna know why this thing weighs 320 LBS with only a 900 oz magnet . I wiould imagine it is the frame and the mica filler. It may be big but it defeinately is not the loudest. Congratulations MTX.

It clearly states that the sub is 6000 rms and 12000 rms peak on the MTX website. The mica filler would not weigh much. The top and back plate probably contribute to the weight of the sub significantly as well as the huge cast basket.
Not sure what PAS you are referring to, but it has not been tested by them I am sure, so maybe it is in the new products section and it is a typo. Anyways, name another sub that handles 6000 rms, not just for a 3 second burp, in an optimized for SPL box?

This woofer is a statement piece that WILL sell, since it already has a massive back order list.
Its great some of you have a good attitude toward MTX pushing the boundries.
Killowatt has the right idea!
"Kudos to MTX for pushing the limits of car audio."
