Anyone familiar with MTX electronic crossovers ?

My question is regarding the sub level.
I have the external bass control hooked up which works well. I notice the actual "output level" **** on the crossover itself doesnt make any difference when adjusting it..
Does the external sub level control over ride the output level **** ?

just like amps with the remote. it will cancel the onboard gain. when u disconnect the remote gain it goes back to the onboard gain
