Angry My amp is pissing me off.

I am tired of telling my friends "I can't, it clips after volume 29" when they ask me to crank my system up. I would go to the closest car audio store for help but I don't feel like driving for 1 hour there and 1 hour back because that sounds boring and gas prices are insane. So I beg you guys to help me with my problem. If you guys don't remember I have an infinity reference 1211a.

THE BIG QUESTION: What can I do to make my amplifier stop clipping at low volumes so that I can crank my head unit up and use all of the 1200Wrms that this amplifier is supposed to possess?

Lets say I hooked up some other amp that cranked out 1200W. Would it clip at the same volume too except I would be unaware of the clipping without the clip light or do infinity amps just clip easier. Would changing subs or head unit help? I think I do not get what the word "clipping" means.

i believe on the infinity amps that if the "clip" light flashes every now and then, its ok. You're only in danger if the light stays on for long periods of time....for example, throught a full long bass note.

...or you can turn down the gain on the amp and it shouldn't clip if you turn your HU volume higher.

Alright cool, I have heard that a couple of times but I wasn't going to try it until I had proof so thanks a bunch for the confirmation.

If I remember correctly it says that in the manual. That the clipping light will flash with the bass, just not to let it stay on steady... the maual is your friend..
