a pc supply will cut it.. you need put a full load on the 5v line.. the current on the 12v line is proportional to the current on the 5v line. You can run multiple in parallel.. i'm running 8 in parallel to get 160 amps

hold up...

i dont know jack about computer parts, and i have never played with the power supply from one.

are you saying you can use a couple power supplies from a computer to run a set of subs? and it wont clip?

lets say i am running a PLD-1 and about 150 wrms x 2 out of a Rodek...

as mentioned above i am thinking of using a pyramid regulated supply. 25 amps i believe. i use it to test audio at work. under $150 i get it for i think.

but i can get power supplies for nothing i think. my dad has a mcintosh graveyard somewhere.

I've often wondered how well that would work... cause i have probably 15 power supplies out of old comps sitting around and i've thought about running them in parallel and using them as a power supply for a car amp... never tested it though

I would like to see some pic's of your setup.

Have you actually tried it out to see how well it work? ie have you hooked up a fairly decent sized car amp and powered it without any problems?
