I thought of going with an mp3 player (ipod etc), highend touch screen deck etc, but the cost is about the same...i also really hate cables dangling, i like oem look
the coolness factor, upgradeablity, tweakability, internet access and so many other options just kept telling me, you need a PC!
definately not for everyone...anyone interested in doing this in the gta, I would have no problem demoing my setup... would love to see other setups too
would really like to hear a top notch sq system, and have mine critiqued, as I think i've got some holes in my sound...

how is the pc getting the power? some type of inverter? and what about easily accessible USB ports, etc? are there any (that are not in the trunk)? is the rear view mirror also intergrated into the pc?

In the 2nd pic , between the screen and shifter, ive made a little panel with switches, aux in and 2 usb ports.
i use a carnetix p2140 (last pic, silver box left of motherboard)dc dc regulator (about $100), it has inteligent startup/shutdown controller, ie ignition on -power pc, screen in 3s, power amps in 30s(avoid pop sound)
ignition off - i have the carnetix programmed to shut the pc off in 12minutes so that when running quick errands, putting gas, the pc stays on. amps turn off immediately.
Inverters are a no no, not inteligent ,too much ground noise, too ineficient...
the handsfree lcd bluetooth mirror is not integrated with the pc, the sw is not up to snuff yet.

12V/5V for Motherboard, 5V for harddrives cd drives, also needs 3.3V for somethig else..
The Carnetix only provides a steady 12V, even during cranks, i also have another mini psu, its actually called picopsu, that splits the 12v into the voltages a regular pc requires...
oh, you are definately not stupid, your spl reputation preceeds you..
