my first setup! progress report... :P

Those AQ amps are very advanced. That clipping light is showing that there isn't enough amps running to the amp itself to power your subes at that gain setting, try turning the gain down a bit on the amp and be sure your not using any bass boost, or very little. Clipping woofers is not a good habit.

Wait until you get the big 3 done before you judge your system. It can make a huge difference on some vehicles, depending on what was used from the factory. My truck had factory 8 gauge, so going to double 0 gauge was a night and day difference. My upgrade may sound a bit overkill, but it was a requirement with the equipment that I run to avoid to much voltage drop.

Thanks for the info and it's kind of what I thought. I have lowered the gain about 1/2 way and still issues. Bass boost is not enabled. Loudness on the HU is off, etc. I will see how much improvment the "big 3" does. After that, I may need a new battery and hopefully my alt. doesn't need a rebuild. It's 105amps and from what others say, it should be sufficient enough for the hardware. Anyways thanks again for you insight! We'll see how it goes...
another thing with those AQ amps is that they do rated power @ 13.5V i believe so running them below that voltage wont result in rated rms power. and sometimes you'll throw it into protect mode everytime you wanna crank up your tunes.

If you do a BIG 3 Upgrade and run all 1/0 gauge wiring, I think you should be okay. I would also upgrade the fuse to maybe a 200A to allow more current flow.
I've really spent time thinking about this thread and something just isnt right. I dont know if its user error or not, but that amp shouldnt just go into protect as easy as your saying it does....

First home built box almost complete! *pics*
So here's some pics of a dual ported box I've been working on... hopefully not a bad first attempt, considering it was made with a circular saw, jigsaw, and other common tools. I need to invest in a table saw one day!
MDF is 3/4 inch. The freq. is supposed to be about 43. Volume is just a hair over 2 cubic ft. Each port is 1 inch wide. Everything predrilled and countersunk. The only thing left to do is carpet it... I'll post some pics when It's done.
I should have posted some pics of the inside before the top was put on... too late now.
So... the verdict... Wicked bass. So much stronger my ears feel like they are bleeding now. I'd say I got a %15-20 improvement over the stock enclosure. WE LOVE IT!!!
The only BIG mistake I made, was not having the subs closer together. Hopefully that doesn't matter too much.
And no, the wood isn't warped. For some reason it looks that way in the photo... maybe just the angle or something.
