We are a newer Pioneer dealer and have not ordered any products yet. I have two customers who want AVIC N1's. If you compadres know of any dealer that has some in stock (demo or not) that they would like to move, can you drop me their contact info please.

Might just have to make that 3. I have a Lt. Commander that needs one quite possibly as well.

Hey Rob,

I e-mailed you some more information on where you might find a couple AVIC-N1.

Also, the AVIC-N2 has been released as well. There's not much difference but give me a call if you want to know exactly what they are.

Thanks,

Scott

That's one of the differences...

I know this isn't going to be a popular thing to say but I'm going to anyway.

We, as both suppliers & retailers, have to educate the customers in that watching video while your driving is a dangerous thing to do. I'm sure many of us here (myself included) have done so but it's not going to be fun when somebody dies because of it (whether it's the owner or an innocent person).

This is the first step in taking some action against this & I'm sure many of the other manufacturers will follow suit, in one capacity or another, as the potential for lawsuits in the USA is daunting.

Having said that, the safety feature is evidently tied into the gyro on the AVIC-N2. It will lock out DVD playback on the AVIC-N2 screen but still allow the "tri-zone" capability by sending the signal out to a "rear" screen. Also, you know that the AVH-P5700DVD & AVH-P7600DVD don't have gyros in them so obviously the safety feature on these two models isn't the same.

I'm somewhat going to have to disagree. Not every consumer of the AVIC-N2 wants to purchase it for front seat video. We have the AVH-P5700DVD & AVH-P7600DVD for that (if so desired) and there are many other products on the market.

The application for the AVIC-N2 goes far beyond just an in-dash screen. The perfect application is an RV so that they have radio, navigation & then send DVD playback to the big TV mounted overhead. It takes the place of three different units in that application.

Having said that, the early adopters of the AVIC-N1 were the "tuner" crowd. Sales will more than likely not match last year but I don't think they will be "low". The range of target customers for this type of product is too broad for it not to sell & it's a unique product with no direct competition.

Time will tell!
