im looking into get a mono amp to power 2 subs, the subs are 2ohm dvc...and the amp i was looking at was an alpine one that was 1000x1@2ohm, if i run two subs, would each get 500w at 1ohm?..is that how that works?..im new to this stuff and have a hard time understangding this..

yep if you go in parallel

 

If they are 2 ohm dvc that will work fine. Just wire them in series-parallel (look for diagrams anywhere online, they are easy to find), and when your done you will get a 2 ohm load, giving you a 1000 watts that the subs share, so it will work out to 500 watts a piece. Hope this helps.
