Need help with amps

im new to all this stuff too and i have a question about amps: when do u need to use an amp.. will the speakers and/or subs work without one? im looking maybe 10 inch 300 watt

Efficient, low power midranges and tweets can work decently off just a HU's internal power. A dedicated subwoofer will need an external power amplifier.
For better sound quality I would recommend powering all speakers by way of external amplifier.

ok so for speakers u dont rele need an amp.. but for subs u definatly would need one? also can one amp power both speakers and the sub?

A decent sized 4 or 5-channel amplifier could easily run all speakers if you wished to have a single amp system.

For example lets say you had two front speakers and a sub. You could use a 4-channel amplifier and connect the two front speakers to th efront two channels and bridge the rear two channels for the sub.
