Need Help Choosing 3.5" and 4x10" Speakers

I really need some help guys. I've been looking for hours trying to figure what's best.

I have an '86 Buick Regal Limited.

Replacing the 3.5" dash speakers with the Pioneer model, since I've heard that they are better than Eclipse. I don't believe Alpine makes 3.5"

Replacing the rear 4x10's with Eclipse or Pioneer, not sure yet. Alpine again does not make a 4x10, and I'm not going with 6x9's.

Your thoughts?
Also, where could I buy these? I don't want to get them on eBay, but rather somewhere local (Ontario or Canada-based shop).

Basically looking for the best bang for the buck.

4x10 in a car, dam.

cut out the hole more and put a 10 inch sub in the deck,

but yeah those are good speaker choices, there are lots of reputable shops listed on the site, just not sure if any are close to you... check out the sponsors and their links...

Thanks man.

I plan on throwing 2, 12" Alpine's in the trunk later on down the road. It's nice having a huge trunk. Lots of room after the subs are installed.

Im basically looking for any dealers in the southern Georgian Bay area (Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Owen Sound)

I sell both and to my ears there is just absolutely no comparison in tonal response from the Pioneer to Eclipse. My ears prefer the Eclipse and have for over 11 years now.

Ya 4x10's are becoming harder to find these days, I know Memphis makes killer set but expensive as well.

I don't think you're old enough to remember those cars
The rear shelf is not very deep at all which is why a 4x10 was used in the first place.

I would x2 the suggestion that was made in your first post which was to either add a decent sized mid and tweet in either your doors or kickpanels.
There is plenty of room up front and it will be much more worthwhile. It also leaves you the ability to leave those 4x10 holes open in your rear deck to let your future subs back there vent better into the cabin.

The kick panels will be in a few months, or next year. I need to budget this. Want to have some decent sound for the summer, which includes engine sound (headers). Trying to get a start of the best of both worlds.

Thanks for all the help!

The money it's going to cost to buy a set of 3.5's and a set of 4x10's could be combined to buy one decent set of front speakers and it will sound better in the long run (and without having to do the upgrade in a month or so it will also save you money).

Do the Eclipse fit alright Rob? We still get these cars in on occasion and most people think the same way here - since the front speakers are small, better to get the GOOD ones. Problem with these cars is that the speaker mounts right up under the grille and they come out together, meaning that access to the dash opening is tight too. The Infinity 3.5s we sell don't fit - the tweeter sticks up too far and the driver is too deep, so we sell them the Pioneer which does not sound as good, but it fits.
