Ahoy hoy,
Since this is my first post on this board (just found it last week, seems like a great resource!!), I'll try my best to give all the detail you need in giving me a hand (if you so choose).

Vehicle: 1999 Sonoma Extended Cab 4x4
Source: MP3 Player output to Audio Control 3.1
Speakers: Currently stock Sonoma (6.5" door, 4x6" dash I believe).

What I would like to do:
My budget is limited, so I'm ing the project out. As I get more money, I'll spend more on upgrades. At the moment, bare minimum, I need an amp (2 or 4 channel) to drive my stock speakers. What I'm thinking I'd like to do is buy a 4-channel amp (about 4x50Wrms) and run the four mains off of two channels, and then bridge the other two channels and run a sub. I'm going more for SQ than SPL here. I've kind of sized everything based on how my home theatre is sized. I don't know if can do that but...my home theatre speakers (fronts, center, surrounds, and sub) are the Energy Take 5.2, driven buy a denon 5x75W receiver. I'm quite happy the way this is balanced and sounds overall. So I'm thinking a 4x50w and 100-200w sub in the truck would be just fine. Is this correct to make this kind of analogy? Will I be getting the clear sound I want by running the sub and mains off of the same four channel amp?

Products I'm looking at:
Right now, I think top of my list is the JL e4300 4-channel amp, and a 10W0-4ohm sub. Amp is rated 4x45wrms@4ohm (I'm told conservatively). I thought pairing these two would be a good match. What do you think? I'm trying to stay in the $350-450 range for an amp. and the $100-$200 range for the sub. I'll upgrade my mains later this summer likely either to a single set of components, or a nice set of four coaxials?

Oh and one installtion limit, I will likely build a custom box as I want to be able to still use the jump seat. It'll be a sealed box to conserve space.

Opinions, suggestions, flames?
thanks in advance

Welcome to the board! Sounds like you are on the right track, the 10W0 is a good sub for the money, and works well in about .75 cubic feet sealed. I think the JL amp would be a decent match, I have never used them before though. Anyone else?

I ran a single 10W0 for around a year, great sub. Sounds good, and takes a beating. I agree with Dodgeram, stick with a set of 6 and a halfs in the doors, and skip the dash speakers..

If I were to go with 6.5" components as suggested, where should I mount the tweeter? Cut a hole in the door, a-piller, where the dash speaker used to be?

Thanks for the tips guys. It's reassuring knowing that I've been on the right track

I'm documenting my install and taking lots of pics, so when I get a little further along I'll post up a link

cutting = remorse later on....
I'd try to avoid any cutting, as much as possible.
Maybe the A-pillar? Thats generally a popular spot for tweeters
