If you like the way your factory system sounds, then you can try just adding an amp and a sub, and see how that works out.

Looks like ok low budget set up, but if you are ever going to upgrade the cabin speakers, this stuff will need to be replaced as well, as you most likely will not be able to built on it. As people say, it may get you junk in a trunk, but chances are it will not be good enough in a long run. I would look to spend around 500 for good used equipment for an amp and a sub. That way you will be happy, and will save yourself money on future upgrades. And as I always say, the warm feeling of saving money won't last as long as enjoyment of excellent equipment. So, spend just a little more, and you will be much much happier. However, the price on this package seems fair. Remember, install and tuning is more important than components themselves. So buy good quality wires, and get it done right the first time. It will also give you a piece of mind, and keep you feeling content and proud about your install. "Ghetto install" may work, but won't feel satisfactory.

If you've got the patience, wait for a big sale or boxing day. Then you can probably find some better gear for just a little more.

Related to your first post, the package is a little iffy. First, they're luring you with a nice price point, but that amp is discontinued (not to mention that it's 600W peak, not RMS) and the sub is also a discontinued model. You'll have to buy a pre-made box or get one made (at least another $150+ depending on what you like). A cheap wiring kit will work for that, so $50 at Visions will probably land you one of those. Just make sure you get the right fuse that the manual specifies. You'll also have to get a high level to low level signal coverter, which could be anywhere from $25- $200, depending on how you'd like to hook it all up.

When you're all done, your nice $200 amp and sub will wind up closer to $500 at least.

I have a JL Audio sub and amp (10W1 V2 and e2150 bridged) for sale for $450 here in Edmonton. Includes a box and I'll be more than happy to do the install for you if you'd like, and help you find all the proper gear. I'm pretty sure this amp can accept high level inputs so you'd save a few bucks on the converter as well.

alright i found in my garage:
4 JBL 6-1/2" LC-S600 speakers
frequency response 75Hz-18kHz
sensitivity(2.83V, 1M): 92dB
for cabin speakers and i might be able to get two 12s and a amp already in a box from a friend of a friend of mine... but i'll probably redesign a pair of box's to optimize trunk space at the same time...
atm i know nothing about the subs or amp that i'll probably be able to get .. and the guy can probably help me with wiring and the such^_^ i may be able to get it for free... but if not it'll be cheap.. and knowing the guy these are good subs and a good amp..
this makes me happy .. i will find out more about the subs and amp when i can...
now for a deck... wut do u reccomend??
i'm lookin for one that can play any format of music(CD-RW, CD-R, MP3, WMA, etc..) and with a removeable face plate that u have to open to put in the cd... (as i will be getting an ipod and have an adapter to plug in to play it throught my car.. but if it has a USB connector on it BONUS!!!!)

budget for deck is currently unknown...

thanks for all your help^_^
